If you’re considering getting a puppy in the not too distant future, but you’re still tossing up which breed is best for you, Petbarn has put out an online tool that might help you come to a decision.
The “Dog Breed Selector” takes the format of a standard personality quiz, asking you a series of questions about how you would be as a pet owner, and then matching you up with one of an astounding 161 possible breeds that best suits your needs. It will also provide three or four secondary recommendations below.
The release of the tool coincides with what Petbarn finds to be the busiest time of year for people buying new dogs, or accessories.
Many dog owners get a puppy and then find themselves reworking their routine around their dog’s needs. This tool aims to help you choose a dog that will happily fit in with your existing lifestyle.
Questions you’ll be asked include how often you’re typically at home, the current composition of your family and pet situation, what size yard you have and how much time you have for grooming and exercise.
While the tool is very useful in selecting a breed, time should be taken on your own beforehand to decide whether or not you can afford a new dog right now, both financially and in terms of time – remember, a dog is a gift for life, not just Christmas.
