Welcome to one of the team’s favourite issues of PETS — the Fabulous Felines edition! We have devoted a huge chunk of this magazine to one of our favourite types of animal — the cat.
I have sadly never had the pleasure of owning a cat, although I am looking forward to changing that in the future. That’s why I was particularly interested in our feature on choosing the best cat breed for you. It helped me work out that I think I might be a Devon Rex kind of girl — and when you check out their unique, super-cute faces, can you really blame me? Of course, once I bring my cat home I’ll need to train it, and I hope I can be good enough at it to help the cat learn a few “tricks”, such as coming when called. Seriously, if you have a cat, this issue is perfect for you — it’s time to get your furry friend’s brain working!
Of course, this issue isn’t just about all things purr-fectly feline. We also have our usual range of other animal features, including one article I feel passionately about — dog park etiquette. Off-leash parks and beaches are so great for socialising our furry friends, but it’s important that you don’t let your dog loose before it is ready to take this big step. Your dog needs to come when called every single time. Until your pet has mastered this step, leave it on the leash and conduct some more training sessions at home. This way, not only will you avoid calling out repeatedly, looking quite silly, but you also keep your pet (and others at the park) safer in case of any personality clash issues. Of course, once your pet has mastered the art of coming when called, you can take it off-lead in these designated areas as you please.
We also have some fantastic features on Flemish Giant rabbits, Diamond Pythons, Persian kitties, protecting your pet from ticks and so much more in store, so sit back and cuddle with your gorgeous furry friend, relax and grab issue 59 of PETS.
