This is our Wild & Wonderful issue, an edition dedicated to the great and small creatures we can’t keep as pets — but that we love learning about anyway!
One story I was particularly keen to sink my teeth into was the feature on the Tassie Devil. Tasmanian Devils have always held a special place in my heart; they’re such unique animals! I remember going behind the scenes at the Australian Reptile Park many years ago and holding and meeting some baby Tassie Devils, and the playfulness they exhibited, their clear affection for their handlers — in so many ways they reminded me of my pets back home. That’s why I was very excited to learn more about the work of the Australian Reptile Park and Devil Ark in helping to save these creatures, which are still very much threatened. Make sure you check this one out.
We also look at the orangutans at Melbourne Zoo who are busy with some iPad work — how interesting is that? And meet a sweet young lady who’s determined to do her bit to save the planet’s animals.
Of course, it’s not all about the wildlife this issue; we have some other fascinating features that you can apply to your pet, too. We get involved in Doggy Dental Health Month and look at the easiest and most effective ways to keep your pet’s teeth clean: are your canine’s chompers on your radar? We also look at the danger of dog aggression and what you should do if your pet is ever attacked. Finally, we learn more about a heap of great breeds including the Burmilla, the Abyssinian guinea pig, hermit crabs, and this issue’s cover star, the Border Collie.
So sit back, give your pet a little cuddle for us and grab this issue of PETS.
